- How To Celebrate A Special Occasion In And Around Enniskillen
Whether it’s a milestone birthday, a significant anniversary, or even a hen or stag party, there are many ways to make a special occasion extra special in Enniskillen.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a foodie who loves to sample new delights, a party animal hoping to let loose, or someone who prefers the finer things in life, Enniskillen has celebratory experiences to suit every taste.
Here are just a few of our favourites…
Book a table at Franco’s Restaurant
With rustic, Italian-style décor in one room and a modern airy feel in the other, Franco’s restaurant is the perfect blend of old and new and offers a wonderful backdrop for any celebration.
If it’s a big shindig you’re planning, Franco’s can accommodate large groups, with seating up to 100 guests in each room.
In this family-run establishment, a team of first-class chefs serve up all the classics you’d expect on an Italian menu, from spinach and ricotta tortellini and penne carbonara to seafood ante pasto and capriccioso pizza.
Those who prefer dishes with origins a little closer to home won’t be left out either, with hearty favourites like seafood chowder, colcannon, and dry-aged fillet all on the menu too.
Go for cocktails at M Lounge
There is surely no better way to toast a special occasion than with a carefully made cocktail in hand, and M Lounge, a modern cocktail bar on Enniskillen’s Darling Street, is the perfect place to do just that.
Their semi-circular booths are great for catching up with a small group of friends, while the rest of the venue can be adapted to cater to larger groups. It’s not all about the booze either. Alongside cocktail classics such as espresso martinis and gin brambles, you’ll find light bites, including wings and a charcuterie board on the menu.
After your thirst has been appropriately quenched, the night is yours. Take a short walk into town and enjoy live music in Charlie’s Bar, Crowe’s Nest, Pat’s Bar, or Granny Annie’s if you plan on taking the night into the wee hours.
Have a spa day at The Killyhevlin Hotel
When it comes to celebrating, people often think of painting the town red, but taking time for R&R can be just as decadent.
Set on the shores of Lough Erne, Kalm Spa at The Killyhevlin Hotel is the perfect spot for those who want to celebrate by chilling out.
One of Fermanagh’s premier luxury spas, The Killyhevlin has partnered with leading brand Elemis to provide a range of top-notch spa therapy treatments, including massages and facials, tanning and nails.
Robe up with your pals and prepare to engage all of your senses.
Make a reservation at The Taphouse
This family-friendly gastro-pub offers an intimate and relaxed dining experience that’s suitable for big groups and small groups alike. And better yet, their menu options suit all budgets.
Popular choices on the menu include short rib of beef, Taphouse Thai Red Curry, and Molloy’s fish pie. For those looking to wet their whistle, there’s an excellent choice of draught and craft beers on offer too.
Book afternoon tea at The Lough Erne Resort
Afternoon Tea has become a popular trend in recent years – and for good reason! The Tastes Of Lough Erne Afternoon Tea at The Lough Erne Resort promises tradition with a modern Irish twist.
You’ll chow down on dainty finger sandwiches, delicious patisseries and freshly baked scones and have your pick of several speciality teas while overlooking Castle Hume Lough and The Faldo Golf course.
To make it a real celebration, add in a bottle of champagne, or choose the G & Tea option: a tasty Afternoon Tea that’s served with a gin cocktail of your choice.
To make the occasion extra special, why not book yourself in for a treatment at the venue’s spa afterwards?
Cruise Lough Erne
A visit to Enniskillen without a trip on Lough Erne is an opportunity lost. And there are many ways to celebrate on the water.
If you fancy doing it in style, consider the Island Town Dinner and Cruise experience, organized in partnership with Erne Tours, Westville Hotel, The Firehouse, and Crowe’s Nest.
You’ll embark on a two-hour course with Erne Tours and can book a post-sail dinner in one of the three restaurants. (See Fermanagh Lakelands for more details.)
If money is no object, consider hiring a luxury cruiser from the Manor House Hotel. The biggest of their fleet sleeps up to eight people so you can invite seven of your nearest and dearest to celebrate with you.
Eat at 28 At The Hollow
Set in a stunning three-storey Victorian building, 28 At The Hollow boasts an interior like few others, complete with exposed brick walls and gothic features.
But it’s not just the décor worth writing home about; the food is exceptional too – and has even collected a few awards.
On the dinner menu, you’ll find dishes like confit duck leg, brioche stuffed chicken and beef striploin, all made with fresh local ingredients and by some of the county’s most talented chefs.
If you’re the adventurous sort when it comes to food, good news! The team have also just launched Glen At The Hollow, a 12-course tasting menu that would be a great fit for a celebratory event.
Cheers to that!
